Swell review, honestly, Adam....But I'm the long-time converted anyway when talk turns to a runaway, creme-of-the-crop classic like
Butchered at Birth
....After all, I have long regarded BaB to be my absolute most-loved

Corspe classic. I was hooked from the opening seconds of
Meak Hook Sodomy and what an infectious rocker that turned out to be. And I gotta say that such a fantastic closer like
Innards Decay (one of my top 3 faves on the record) actually made it bitter-sweet to have the album finish that way. I recall desperately wanting a few more cuts, a longer stay with Jack, Bob, Paul, Alex and Chris, and I still feel the same way listening to BaB today.
Some fans that love the album often say that BaB was "huge step" up from EbtL. As much as I adore BaB, and there are lots of common features as there are obvious differences between the two records, I love EbtL like crazy, so I don't really think that CC made some massive musical and qualitative leap from the debut to the follow-up, cos that implies that EbtL was somehow average-to-poor, depending on who you ask. I thought it was a smash-debut, in every sense of the word.
I love everything about Bab, from the gory cult classic cover artwork, to every single song, the astonishingly fierce originality, heaviness, brutality and memorability, yes, even the much-dissed
production of the old-school death metal tour de force that the album will always remain. Need I even add how a certain Chris Barnes and the voice and lyrics of the man makes BaB greater than the sum of its parts, in plain English, an even bigger, better bombshell than some you might care to admit....
Kudos, mate Adam....Really enjoyed reading your review through. Though I can't name a favourite song off the magical nine on offer...
