Biography of Cannibal Corpse's Alex Webster
Bassist, lyricist, songwriter (1988-Present)
One of the two remaining original members of Cannibal
Corpse, bassist Alex Webster is a master of his
craft. Having helped composed some of the group’s
most gruesome songs, Alex has a bevy of Cannibal Corpse songs credited to both
his musicianship and lyricism, to include ‘Fucked With a Knife,’ ‘Puncture
Wound Massacre,’ ‘I Will Kill You,’ and ‘Unleashing the
Bloodthirsty.’ Renowned for his skill on the bass, Alex is
one of a kind, one of the few bassists in death metal history
to do bass solos, and is infamous for having
recorded the most recognizable bass solo in death
metal in the opening of ‘Hammer Smashed Face.’
Alex was originally in Beyond Death with former Cannibal Corpse guitarist Jack Owen in 1987 and joined up with the three other original members of Cannibal Corpse (Chris Barnes, Paul Mazurkiewicz, and Bob Rusay)
through their band, Tirant Sin. Alex is also credited with the name of the band (brought up before their first show
opening for Dark Angel). Alex has not been in another band since for reasons unknown (though practice, touring, and
frequenting the official Cannibal Corpse forums could contribute). He uses Modulus and
Spector basses, DR Strings, EMG pickups and Ampeg amplifiers.
