BLOTTED SCIENCE, the technical extreme metal project masterminded by guitarist Ron Jarzombek (WATCHTOWER, SPASTIC INK) and bassist Alex Webster (CANNIBAL CORPSE), have announced the addition of drummer Derek Roddy (HATE ETERNAL). Roddy replaces Chris Adler (LAMB OF GOD) who recently had to bow out due to other commitments. The earlier tentative project name, THE MACHINATIONS OF DEMENTIA, will now find its place as the CD's title.

"Alex and I are stoked to welcome Derek to the fold — he is an incredible drummer", enthuses Jarzombek. "His skills and abilities work out extremely well for us since we are writing and recording separately and sending files back and forth via the internet. Derek, Alex and I got a chance to meet up at NAMM last week, had a great time talking about the project, and are all very hyped to get things moving.

"Derek will begin recording at Mana Recording Studios in Florida, hopefully with Erik Rutan producing, after HATE ETERNAL get back from their upcoming European tour. Alex is half way done recording his bass tracks for the album and will be totally done in a few weeks. Then it's up to Derek and me to finish up mid-year."

"The Machinations Of Dementia" will feature 16 songs, including "Synaptic Plasticity", "Bleeding In The Brain", "Narcolepsy", "Oscillation Cycles", "Brain Fingerprinting", and "Laser Lobotomy", and is scheduled for a late 2006 release on a yet-to-be-determined label.

I PERSONALLY AM VERY HYPED ABOUT THIS....ALTHOUGH I THOUGHT MR. ADLER WOULD HAVE WORKED OUT JUST FINE, AND IT KINDA SUCKS THAT HE'S NOT ON IT.......RODDY WILL BE INTERESTING TO HEAR, IF MORE THAN JUST A LITTLE DIFFERENT.

OK.....I LIKE BOTH DRUMMERS, TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT. BUT ADLER PUTS IN A LOT MORE VARIATION THAN RODDY, LIKE IT OR NOT. I'VE SEEN DEREK LIVE, AND HE'S AWESOME, BUT FOR FUCK'S SAKE.......HE DOES THE SAME THING THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SET.....KINDA LIKE THE GUY FROM KRISIUN

no i just dont like lamb of gods sound.........there mediocre at best for me.......and dude i listen to plenty on non death metal bands so thats got nothing to do with it.......i just think derek is a better drummer hands down......i havent seen him live but ive seen videos........and he is doing plenty

I'd heard about that project before, but this is the first time I heard its called "BLOTTED SCIENCE".

Should be pretty cool. I'm hoping it will satisfy some of Alex's creative-technical urges and Cannibal Corpse will then tone down the technicality a bit. Don't get me wrong, the more technical stuff is cool and everything but if you think back to some of the old school songs like Meat Hook Sodomy for example "Bodily destruction Vulgar molestation" - thats not what you'd call technical at all but its heavy as a blue whale encased in lead. I think Cannibal Corpse no longer has anything to prove, we all know they can do technical, so I hope they will underplay a bit in places and let the brutality flow.

Anyway I'm getting off the subject I know... concerning "Blotted Science" it should be interesting because Ron is quite a shredder. I was actually looking forward to Chris Adler drumming but Derek Roddy should be suitable - he kind of strikes the right balance between being heavy and just showing off - fills from hell every measure - I hate that.

That sounds fucking awesome, can't wait to hear it, big fan of all three of them as I am.
It will be interesting to hear Derek do some technical shit instead of the blasts everyone seems to be knowing him for. He is definitly capable of that stuff, he's one of the most technical drummers I've seen.

And Ron Jarzombek is insane...check out the song "Wild Hare" he did with Spastic Ink. He transcribed the voice of a rabbit or something in Bambi and made a song of it, it's pretty cool. His brother Bobby is the MOST technical drummer I've seen except for Mike Mangini, and nowadays he's drumming for Iced Earth (big plus in my book )
