When I first heard Cannibal Corpse I didn't really like them all that much. But back then, I didn't know good music because I was still listening to Green Day and Sum41

The first song I heard was Hammer Smashed Face, and I didn't really like Barnes' singing all too much. At first I deleted it and told myself to not listen to it again. But the title and lyrics intriqued me, so I decided to download it again and give it another listen. I listened to it over and over again, and it started to grow on me. When I saw some of their other song titles, I thought to myself, "Holy shit, are these guys sick or something?"
But I gave it all more and more listen, and decided that I needed to broaden my tastes. A lot of the bands I like now I know of only because I joined the Cannibal Corpse forum. I started listening to other bands, like Cryptopsy, Vader, Morbid Angel, Exhumed, Defleshed, Death, etc.
I deleted all of my shitty music and now only have good music. I can't remember how I heard of Cannibal Corpse. I think I was browsing through metal music on Audio Galaxy and came across them, and I thought the song titles were cool, so I downloaded some.
A good piece of advice to take is: if you don't like something the first time you hear it, listen to it again. It's so fucking true when they say death metal is an aquired taste.
