For me, it has to be jack as he has been there all along. However, i dont suppose any of you guys know why Bob left? because when he was around, they made possibly the best 3 albums they would ever make. It has to be said, he was very good as well. Also why did Rob Barrett leave? Have to admit, there does sound an improvement on gallery of suicide from vile with pat there instead.

Yeah, seriously, the long hair didn't look good on him. His shaven head is badass, sets him apart from the others in Corpse. Maybe that's why nobody talks about him too much.

I voted for Rob too. The guy is an amazing guitar player and he rips. The stuff he did with Metaloent Creation and Hate Plow is fucking awesome. Definitely worth checking out like Retribution by Malevolent Creation. That album destroys.
And by the way, I want to make a comment on Bob Rusay. I know this will be hard to believe but the guy never played a single note on Butchered At Bith and Tomb Of The Mutilated. I asked Scott (the old webmaster of the old official CC massage board) about Bob and he told me that band was moving forward and Bob was sticking around in the same place. The guy also played horrible that it sound muddy. I guest that's was reason for the sound of Eaten Back To Life. You might also want to check out the guitar solos on that album to check how bad his playing really was. So anyway, Jack did his parts on Butchered At Birth and Tomb Of The Mutilated.

Jack Owen, because for one thing the only downer to him were some of the not quite solos on vile, but since he was on every CC release except kill and is now in deicide makes him the best guitarist corspe have had.
DeadbyDawn
10th March 2008 - 08:42 AM
There's no doubt that Jack Owen has been a constant presence of undeniable guitar greatness for this mighty band. I reckon Bob Rusay, while allegedly a non-player on the two CC albums (Butchered and Tomb) I consider my personal favourites, had a major influence on the songwriting craft of those classic Barnes-era years. I thought Rob was more of a hot-shot player at home in Malevolent Creation, though I admit he had his famous moments on CC albums, as well.
So, I gotta say that I genuinely regard Pat O'Brien as my favourite CC guitar idol on a lot of levels. There's a stunningly gripping quality to his technical and brutal wizardy on guitars that I have always found singularly impressive, despite my by now well-known lack of total fondness for every Corpsegrinder-era album we have had so far. In short, Pat is not only my favourite CC guitarist but also gets my vote for MVP in post-Barnes CC.

Rusay was on both tomb and butchered; just look at the bab studio footage in 15 yks.
DeadbyDawn
11th March 2008 - 03:21 AM
I don't recall seeing definitive studio footage of those album recordings. I was referring there to the widely circulated suggestion that Bob didn't play "a single note" on guitars for Bab and Tomb, which initially I found astonishingly weird to imagine. I know how Chris was very close to Bob and whether he actually played guitar or not on the two albums, most fans have known that Bob's influence on the songwriting, sound and style on Bab and Tomb were considerable.
And hey, I realize now reading my previous post again that my comment about the Fisher-era albums was a bit carelessly worded. Truth is, I love Bloodthirst, Gore and TWS, while Vile, GoS and Kill are the ones I've never been to keen on.
