Well, at least the screams on Vile aren't buried in the mix.......like Tomb's.

well yeah i know the thread is old but whatever
the bleeding is great in terms of everything but lyrics and vocals, now if barnes use the same type of vocals he used for butchered and tomb on then the bleeding would have sounded alot better, but thats just my 3 cents

Old thread . But never gets old . Barnes vocals on the bleeding were top . He mastered the highs , and still came out with evil low register growls .
I also love the distortion on his voice @ the beginning of stripped . The whole album is perfect .

Plus The Bleeding is home to 2 underrated Cannibal Corpse gems....."The Pick-Axe Murders" and "An Experiment in Homicide".

Pick Axe Murders can't be that underrated, it was on 15 Year Killing Spree

For me, this never was the "best" Barnes-era CC classic, that honour is reserved for Butchered and, on some days, Tomb..
Like I said earlier, I wish there there was a lot less 'groove' on the album's overall sound and vibes. The groove 'overkill' on Bleeding still disappoints and annoys me today. However, Chris was really at some of his stylish, swaggering best, vocally. While I have always hugely admired and enjoyed his utterly unique and impossibly low growling style, on The Bleeding, Chris seemed to me to have gained a whole new sort of confidence and joy in his craft, and it really shows. The obvious greater variety in his vocal delivery with a superb exhibition of the highs, middles, lows, the vintage growls and newish attack dog snarls (and the unrivalled lyrical and songwriting genius of both Chris and the rest of the band) makes this an indispensable album, for the vocals alone.
Fans and critics that habitually carp about Chris's supposedly "one-dimensional", "monotonous" low, growling style couldn't honestly piss and moan about the vocals, on this record. Besides, these same complaining folks had another reason to be cheerful about: Chris's vocals here were (in contrast to his trademark, classic style, at least) far more 'decipherable', i.e. words and phrases were regularly 'understandable', even on first listen. Though, that's another aspect of the album that I personally didn't like much.
I gotta say that one stand-out feature of The Bleeding has gotta be the 'solos'. I don't know about 'under' or 'over'-rated, but for me, this final Barnes bombshell record has some of the most breath-takingly memorable leads and solos, in the entire CC catalogue.

"The Bleeding" is definitely my favourite album with Barnes. "Tomb of the Mutilated" is second, "Butchered at Birth" third.

well, musically i think that the band members were getting more and more talented but barnes just kind of fucked it up with his new (well old now) vocal approach. i still like his tomb and butchered much better when it comes to music and vocals

I loved this album then and I love this album now. Barnes explored his versitility on the vocals.(which I loved) The band also showed that they're not one dimensional and changed it up a bit.
