Full Version: Best Chris Barnes Voice
The Tomb > Beyond The Cemetery > Cannibal Corpse Discussions
Face Smasher
Chris Barnes's vioce seems to change on the albums he's on. Which one do you think is the best. I go with Tomb of the Mutilated, because his voice is so deep.
Ira Tenax 666
same, his voice makes it even more brutal than it already is on that one
SHUT UP AND DIE
THE BLEEDING......I THINK HIS BEST YEARS WERE LATE CC/EARLY SFU WHEN YOU COULD MAKE OUT WHAT HE WAS SAYING WITHOUT HAVING TO GUESS WHAT THE BURPS WERE.

I don't care... I don't need this to enjoy biggrin.gif

The Bleeding, because he went low and did the raspy shrill-type shit that wasn't annoying like it is in SFU stuff nowadays
Vaginal Blood Fart
I love every album the same that Barnes' done with CC: EBTL has such rawness, and the fastest Barnes vocal patterns on "Mangled", TOTM is his lowest, most gutteral performance and its a refrance point when discussing DM vocals IMO. With The Bleeding I think Barnes was running out of lyrical content honestly, and tried to experss himslef a little more through the different vocal ranges he hits. And the cool sounds he makes on "Force Fed Broken Glass", and the "Come to me....." bit is awesome.

But I picked Butchered At Birth cause its my favorite DM album. It epitomizes DEATH METAL, and is my favorite Barnes performance all round.

i love the voice of chris , so it' s very hard for me to make a choice , but i'll go for THE BLEEDING 'cause i think that it was the top of the vocal expression and maturity of barnes in his cannibal corpse period ( more modulations and more fantasy in the metrical interpretation than in the past albums....)
Nocturnal_Abyss
Butchered...is his finest hour, IMO
Dee
I'll say, The Bleeding.
Devourer_Of_Vaginal_Skin
The Bleeding hands down.
Demonic Reign
Tomb, the vox were so gutteral.
VILE
TOMB OF THE MUTILATED

I dont have a fav myself....i much adore all his voxing smile.gif (for the most part) not to keen of his over use of the pig squeeling tatics he was addicted too for a short spell...lol other then that he is the all time death metal vox god! THE END smile.gif
maggotgrinder
since eaten back to life and tomb are my favorites I have to go with butchered, because its like mixing the two together.
AnExperimentInHomicide
The Bleeding, to me it has the best death metal vocals ever on it.

^Hey, is it SUAD? biggrin.gif Do you like his vocals in Six Feet Under as well?
maggotgrinder
the worst vocal performance by barnes was definitely true carnage. Pure shit, but all the rest of sfu are pretty good, but a little corny.

I like his early vocals in SFU....the newer ones from about the last 6 years or so can be laughable at times.

I fucking love his bleets; not because they're good because they're pretty damn pathetic.
SHUT UP AND DIE
"bleets"??? is that what you're calling his high pitch screams?
AnExperimentInHomicide
I like Chris Barnes's vocals even today on 13 and Commandment even though I recognize they're not what they were. What caused his growl to not be as good? Chris said he's been smoking weed since 1978 so maybe that wasn't the cause after all?

Out of the four choices on the poll, I'd instinctively vote Tomb, which is what I did, though Chris's vocals on Bab are almost equally superb. I still get the same chills and thrills listening to his voice on those immortal albums today, as I did the first time I heard him more than a dozen years ago.

As for SFU, I liked most --not all---of Chris's singing on the six albums I have heard so far, and in any case, I just always thought that Chris's vocals were usually the sole highlight of SFU albums, for me, anyway.

<br>It beggars belief the sort of absolutely abominable and asinine statements you pull off here and pass it off as opinion
So, your sordid ears hear 'bleats' (there's nothing called 'bleets') when Chris screams besides growling and grunting? Don't wanna make you sob and rant,, but maybe next time you listen to Cannibal Corpse, just don't do it down at the farm.

Tomb. No matter how much I love Butchered at Birth, Tomb's vocals are still better
blasphemer
[FONT=Arial] I took butchered at birth, because it's so raw and dirty. the sound, the music, the lyrics and barnes voice.

but i think without barnes, SFU wouldn't be as popular as they are.

You best believe it!. SFU is Barnes's baby. Without Barnes, SFU would be a homeless orphan laugh.gif

TOMB OF THE MUTILATED it was so fucking brutal
Tyrannosaurus Matt
Tomb!!!

It's what I try to sound like when I growl! laugh.gif
mutationofthecadaver
Tomb is really brutal, just kind of boring vocally after a while. The Bleeding for me.
CannibalCorpse0507
TOTM, but I think his vocals for The Bleeding are sick.
Gereerfniiq
Butchered just gets my vote but I could of easily chose any of them.
Tyrannosaurus Matt
Surprised no one voted for Eaten Back to Life. Them vocals do kick ass!!

Thrash-esque death vokills.. Lovely!
Dechristianize
It was hard to choose between Tomb and The Bleeding, but I went with the bleeding.
