The Tomb > Beyond The Cemetery > Cannibal Corpse Discussions

OK, not going to bother making this a poll or anything cause I'm too lazy, but I wonder what song do you think Paul's best drumming on KILL is ?

I know my choice already, but I'm not going to tell right now untill after I hear a few of your answers. And keep in mind I'm talking about the KILL album only - not any of the other albums.

wardepartment
I like Five Nails Through The Neck drumming

tough choice, but i think i like necrosadistic warning. no particular part or reason, i just like the drums on that one alot.
Vaginal Blood Fart
Paul is really hauling ass on Kill..

Right now I'd say my fav drumming song is Necrosadistic Warning... Just that bludgeoning push/pull feel going on the verse is really awesome... Brain Removal devise is right up there too. Kill is so fuckin sick!
wardepartment
yeah Necrosadistic warning is my favorite song on the album
IBDAT1
My choice is PURIFICATION BY FIRE it's like he's trying to throw the beats down your throat.
Rotting Decrepit Corpse
well , the drumming is kinda straight ahead blast beats.... not really memerable

for me .....so i cant think of one song that has better drumming than the other .

maybe make them suffer , i seem to remember some fills in that tune .

Listen closer, cause he's throwin some sick shit down man.. Its not strait blasting at all really.. He lays down the blast when he masterfully needs to, but from what I hear Paul's REALLY pushed himself on this record. All of CC have stepped it up on Kill.

listen to the new deicide , and youll hear who stepped up . wink.gif

I agree.

And Paul plays plenty of fills if you notice, but his fills are heavier and more brutal cause he often plays fills with double bass. Listen to the mid-tempo part of Five Nails Through The Neck for example, where he's just riding along with the cymbals and then wham-wham-wham double bass fill(s) - Paul's an awesome drummer.

Kill has lost my interest for a while , Ill listen again today ..... maybe i missed something ....

being a fan of rush , maiden , police , death , etc , I usually can pick out the perc-

ussion skills right away .. On KIll , I dont really hear anything interesting (drumming wise )

But again , live hes fuckin a machine .... Studio , I'm still on the fence .

Mutilated1
well he plays for Cannibal Corpse - not RUSH

you're not going to hear all over the place drum fills - that doesn't go along with their music. Its not brutal at all. And you'll never see Paul toss his hair and twirl his drum sticks like he's Ricki fucking Rocket or something

Live and Studio he plays the same thing rolleyes.gif
Rotting Decrepit Corpse
playing kill right now ... ...

and I would have to say , the best drumming is on necrosadistic warning .

Toward the end when he is doing rolls and fills like mad ..... During the solos ....

the beginning of 5 nails is interesting , the way he reverses the time sig every second bar .... sounds cool .

THe busy guitars maybe over-ride what hes doing sometimes .

who knows ......

VILE
my fav drumming was five nails through the neck, but make them suffer wasn't bad.

but like rob said earlier. check out the new deicide
Mutilated1
OK Five nails through the neck was what I had in mind when I started this, but now I think the best drumming is the first part of Purification By Fire - listen!
irish hellbringer
yup i think that necrosadistic warning is just my fav on the whole album so i am kinda biased...and holy crap the new deicide stomps your brains out...they have compiled a metal powerhouse. i am sure that if you did not like deicide (as if there was anyone who didnt) you will have a different opinion of the new one WOW...just like kill ,blew me damn head off and dwn the stairs...and the time to kill is now also has some friggin punishing drums.. devil.gif and any time i have seen paul playing its as if he is about to yawn (bastrd makes look easy !@#$%) all casual and non chalant like a walk in the park.

infact now that i think of it, i'm pretty sure paul composed that song aswell.
Pat_Corpse
At first I say "Make them suffer" and "Death walking terror".
Because itīs a great mix between the songs...with how rapid and brutal...contra brutal and groove.
Actually itīs not fair...from my point if view, if I only must choose one track from the album. Cos I canīt!
I would go for the whole album!!!! "KILL"
Itīs fucking amazing drumming from Paul right through!!!

Totally great! Thanks Paul, and the rest of the Corpse, George, Alex and Rob!!! For being the best death metal band in the world!!!
Reredrum
Pauls Drumming Is Pretty Impressive In A Heavy Way...But The Instrumental INFINITE MISERY Impressed Me The Most Because Taking Everything Slowly And Still Making It Heavy Takes Balls To Pull Off...Not Alot Of BDM, DM, BM, TM, or HM Bands Can Do That These Days....
AGENT_ORANGE
Purification by Fire and Submerged in Boiling Flesh imo!
Buenouve
Ave!

Every song is outstanding in this album, it's hard to choose only one, but "Time To Kill Is Now" is pretty good, because opens the album givin' it a brutal start devil.gif
specialedyaay
I'm not going to narrow it down to individual songs, but overall I think the drumming on KILL is the best work of Paul's career.

Musically I prefer Bloodthirst and Wretched but KILL isn't far behind!
mlsilbernagel
i especially like the middle passage on "make them suffer" but all of "purification by fire" rules. it sounds like he's just suffocating you in blastbeats and you can't move for fear of missing even a second. definitely a step up on this LP.

SHUT UP AND DIE
I MUST SAY THAT I CAN'T REALLY PICK OUT JUST ONE TRACK HERE OR THERE. I THINK PAUL'S DRUMMING ON THIS ALBUM IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST TO DATE, HANDS DOWN.

"SUBMERGED IN BOILING FLESH" AND "MAKE THEM SUFFER" STAND OUT TO ME.

The Time To Kill Is Now has kick ass drumming! Paul is at his best on that track! By the way, there needs to be a sub-forum for the album Kill.
