i think that corpsegrinder's vocals were at their best in gallery. especially I WILL KILL YOU because they are so much deeper and lower than most of his stuff. maybe its just beacuse this is pretty much the only cc album with corpsegrinder that i listen to besides KILL and KILL's vocals werent that great in my opinion.

oh i do have gore obsessed. i have all of cc's albums just because i... well i just do, even the ones i dont like (which is very few) and some of them i just havent given a thorough listen even though i do like them. but i just listened to "hatchet to the head" off of gore obsessed and maybe your right about his grunts being better on gore obsessed than gallery, but i cant decide. oh well.

The best Corpsegrinder performance I think has got to be Vile just because of how fierce it starts off. You know the very beginning of "Devoured By Vermin" ?
Maybe not the best, but most memorable to me anyway.

As is well known here and elsewhere by CC fans I've traded views with all these years, George Fisher's vocals have never really won me over, to this day. However, I remember having stated here in some other thread a few months ago that, I genuinely feel Corpsegrinder's 'best' vocals were to be heard in the middle segment of his output with CC, i.e. Bloodthirst, Gore Obssessed and The Wretched Spawn.
For me, it's really almost a tie between Bloodthirst and Gore...And I will say Gore Obssessed probably just stands out as George's finest vocal outing with CC. He probably sounded even better cos Pat and Jack (especially Pat's) playing absolutely slayed on that swell release.

^^ - agree'd . I think that album was just great all the way around , I wouldnt give more " props " to pat though on that album for guitar playing , I wouldnt be suprised if the bulk of what you hear is jacks playing , outside hatchet - which i love BTW .

viva, I've said pretty much the same thing in these forums, in the past. I also think George sounded better in his two outings with Monstrosity than he has with CC, AND how Vile always sounded to me like a downright unremarkable debut for George with the band.

You oughta be even fonder of it.

It's a very cool album that deserves all the praise you and I can give it. And we weren't conned by the cover either

; the musical content inside makes the The Wretched Spawn an essential, worthy purchase, no doubting that.

How the hell George could be so great on Millenium, and turn around and do such a shitty job on Vile is beyond me. Any other performance of his career is better than that. His growls were hardly even low, and his screams were just plain unimpressive. Any other album he's ever been on, he's been better on. Name one weaker performance.

I was into c.c. already in 93 - before the bleeding came out . And back then there wasnt much for internet coverage , and I didnt recieve a memo , a fax , or a telegram on the issue .

So NATURALLY , anyone back then listening to vile , so anxious as i was , without looking at the members list , or liner notes . Would have thought the same , its easy for people to post some ten years later online and say " HOW DARE YOU NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE ?!?!?! " At a quick first listen he sounded VERY close .

Bang on true!!..I know all too well, honestly. God, yeah, it was pretty thin on the internet, no quick and easy google search we take for granted today, or bang up-to-date, readily available info etc etc back in those early '90s. It took so much more effort, often in vain, to seek out all the music news that I desperately wanted to know. I remember knowing though that Chris had exited CC and wasn't going to be on Vile, but I had little clue about George and where he was coming from or what he was all about back in '95-96 and indeed when I half-heartedly bought Vile and gave it a spin. But RDC, don't wanna sound smart-ass or patronising to you, I'd reckon that opening, by-now notorious, screeeeeam in Devoured by Vermin and the voice that followed onwards was freakin' SO NOT Chris Barnes to my built-for-loving-Barnes ears

that it didn't even have to be George Fisher on Vile, it could have been my uncle, my sister's boyfriend or the bloke that initiated me into Cannibal Corpse, it was just sounded unmistakably like anybody BUT Chris Barnes No 'private memo, fax or liner notes' at the time saying otherwise could have convinced me any other way...
