Ok, labels really don't mean much to me but what is the difference between black metal and death metal? Is Cc death? How about Nile?

Dude, use punctuation marks more often! Anyway, just trying to get a better perspective on this whole death/black metal thing. As i said, labels don't REALLY matter to me, but saying that Cc and Nile are of the same genre is kind of hard to believe. They sound very different to me! I looked around the net and basically if a bant is satanistic i.e Deicide or Dimmu Burgir, then they are black, if they aren't satanists, i.e Cc (hopefully), then they are death! What do you think of that?

i think that is probably related with sound and the whole attitude as i said before!Of course Deicide's subject obviously has been related with satanic subjects,but their music(sound) is realy pure death metal for me.And for example all black bands dont deal with that satanism shit at all like some bands sing about philosophy,spiritualism but yet majority of them worship satan!

Dan, we know the difference between Black and Death metal, and if you use the search feature you'd see we've discussed and argued about the difference so much over the past three years most of us are just sick of explaining it to people.

their you have it. Death metal is simply brutal and for the most part has indepherable vokills. Black uses synthes and all tht gay atmospheric shit and has more of a shriek vocal approach.

hi vile suffering i agree with ya there most black metal is pussy try hard shit but as for me i like heaps of metal...i think marduk are the best black metal band there is today even tho they mostly sing about satin and shit but being a singer my self i find singing thier songs is most enjoyable to sing along to ant thier muzik is not to bad to listen to but thats just my opinion...i dont really care if they put make up on and all that shit its the muzik that i care about i think there not to bad....

Death metal pisses all over black metal. Most black is gay, but there are a few very good bands: Lord Belial and Dawn is my favourites. 1349 is pretty good too, but I don't really think they have a technical approach, they're just faster than most black bands. And their production SUCKS.

There's not many skilled musicians in black, most of them can't play for shit. To play black metal is like playing punk, just faster. You can be in a touring black metal band after playing guitar for one year. That's the biggest difference between black and death, the musicianship. Many of the best musicians in the world plays death metal, while I can't think of a single skilled black metaller, except Frost of Satyricon and 1349, and Hellhammer of Mayhem, Covenant, Winds, Thorns.

Death Metal = sing about violence, murder, rape, brutality, rot and decay

Black Metal = sometimes play softly so that the keyboards and "melody" ( ha ha ha ) stand out

Death Metal = play as heavy and loud as possible at all times

Death Metal > Black Metal
