i was just looking through the tabs, and though i don't know nearly all of them, some of them looked/sounded way off. so maybe we can try and straighten things out a bit, go ahead and put in yer two cents whenever you want.

to start things off though, gutted:

A: 210540210.......that's how I play that first riff, whaddaya think?
E:210

and the part where they slide thepower chord from 5 to 3(starting on low E), well it says in the tabs 5slide4then3, i just go straight from 5 to 3, same thing w/ 3 to 1

btw, the tab doesn't specify but I assume the tuning is Eb, right ?

yeah, that's waht i meant, thanks. i think so, if Eb means down a half step, could be wrong though. this could very well be much more of a pain in the ass than anything, we'll see i guess

Well I tried playing it both ways, and now I'm confused.

I'd have to go get the CD out of the car and slow the track down to be sure, but I think you may be on to something.

Without comparing to the actual CD, that sounds a lot like it to me.

that's what one of my friends says, the other plays it the way i first stated, they're both pretty damn good..... all i'm sure of is that that part of the tab is wrong:)

also, try watching them play it on live cannibalism

I watched them play it on Live Cannibalism, and Pat is pretty plainly playing a seven string guitar. I can't see Jacks guitar that clearly, but I think its a seven string too.

Now that I've had a chance to listen to it, I don't think any of our guesses are right at all. And you are right, I'm pretty sure the tab isn't correct. In fact, it looks to me like the whole first riff is way off.

To my ear, the pitches of the intro riff are Db, C, B natural, Gb, F, E, Db, C, B natural, G, Gb, C. If haven't checked it out with the tuner, but I'm pretty confident in the pitches. I'll hook the CD player into the digital tuner this evening, sample the riff and slow it down to 1/8th speed and make absolutely certain.

So as played on our detunded guitars that would translate to the notes ( D, Db, Bb, G, Gb, F, D, Db, Bb, Ab, G, Db ) 5 flats, the key of Bb minor which makes me more confident that the notes are correct, since there are no accidentals or chromatic notes in there.

So then that would make my second guess at the tab as follows...

So are a lot of the other tabs wrong too ? Honestly, "Gutted" is the first one that I've even looked at other than to make sure it was displaying on the webpage correctly.

well, i'll have to look again, but gallery of suicide had at least one mistake. ya know the part where the power chord is sliding around and ya strum really fast, like a tremolo strum(?) and george is screaming.

this is what i think it is really quick, i'm takin' off. this is just the root of the power chord (except the open triplet)

yeah, that could work on a 7-string, i just use a 6-string though, i'll try it next time i'm at my buddies' though
