It's part of the "unholy trinity of 1986". If you don't own it, you're a chump.

Dark Angel, next to only Slayer, is my greatest thrashing heroes of all time. I just think they were a highly unique and seriously awesome band that sadly, like many other thrash hot-shots, had a rather short-lived career.

'Darkness Descends' is one of my most priceless, cherished thrash albums, in my treasure vault of thrash classics. I love all DA albums, with only 'Leave Scars' being a bit of a let-down, in some ways. I'd also recommend (by now supposedly very rare and tough to find) live DA release titled, 'Live Scars', which rivals in sheer thrash brilliance and immortality, something like Exodus's 'Another Lesson in Violence' (with their original vocalist, the late Paul Baloff). Personally, I always preferred the original DA vocalist, Don Doty, but his replacement was good enough himself to be worthy of Dark Angel. As cliched as it might sound, I'd say it's every genuine thrash metal fan's great loss not to experience the awesome assault of Dark Angel on their senses.
