| QUOTE | I just don't like any of Slayer stuff after Season... <br>Hmm... dificult to imagine... Divine Intervention is my favorite album for Slayer soloing. Fuckin CRAZY solos! Seasons too for that matter. Especialy the tittle track solos. The production on divine can be awsome if you have a good sterio. On my stereo I can make it sound realy rad. But if you got a tiny little dinky thing its gonna be the shits. But that is not important to me, I think having an overly mixed album is worse than an under mixed album. Because I just can't change that shitty GHUA sound on my stereo. It still sounds like Slayer and Korn traded equipment to use. But at least I can pump the bass and adjust the levels so that Divine sounds totaly awsome...

I don't care how they sound... it don't makes me like or not an album... the only thing that I realy enjoy is the sound of the first edition of South... with the drums really louder than every thing else anyway, once again we won't change our mind about what we like or not... but I don't remember GHUA so I'll try to listen to it again... and I'll probably try to listen to the next one with Dave back...

Reign In Blood, cause it's a big influence in the metal scene. Hell Awaits is a close second. Imo RIB could be a 1 long song excluding Angel Of Death and Raining Blood, cause all the songs are good but sound the same (there are also other kickass tunes such as Altar Of Sacrifice, Jesus Saves, Necrophobic and Criminally Insane).

GHUA IS MY FAV................KERRY KING JUST UNLEASHED THE INNER ASSHOLE WITHIN WITH HIS LYRICS AND I FIND THEM BELEIVABLE WHICH GOES A LONG WAY IN MY BOOK.
THEN........."THIS ONE IS FOR ALL THE LIL CUNTS WHO LIKE TO SPREAD THIER LEGGS IN NIGHT" LIVE UNDEAD IS ONE OF THE BEST LIVE ALBUMS AROUND. WHEN I THINK SLAYER I PICTURE THE BAND OF SO LONG AGO AND THIS ALBUM REPRESENTS THEM BEST.
BUT THE BEST SONG IMO.........STAIN OF MIND..........WHEN THEY PLAY THAT SONG I COME UNFUCKING GLUED IN PIT..........JUST LOVE IT.

Ha ha yes!!!!! That song is total mayhem when played live I remember looking back and seeing nothing but fists being thrown. Live Undead is bad ass, but I heard somewhere that it was recorded in the studio with a group of fans brought it to make it sound like it was truly a Slayer concert. Has anyone else heard about this?

"Reign in Blood" is easily my favorite Slayer album, but I just had to put "God Hates Us All" because of the new thrash feel. Also, I know a lot of people who hate Slayer because of Araya's vocal style, but really love "God Hates Us All" because he is definitely more in command of his voice than ever before. I (while loving his vocal style) would have to agree. Tom is definitely in his element on their newest release, and everything just falls in perfectly along with that. From the opening track, to the last "FUCK YOU!" anthem, "God Hates Us All" rocks forever!

QUOTE (Mutilated1+Nov 25 2004, 12:48 AM) OK, but Reign in Blood is like what 28 minutes long or something ? Decade Of Aggression is two FULL cds, and its got basically the best songs, and its Live! Plus it still has Altar Of Sacrifice, Raing Blood and Postmortem. And also, I think Reign in Blood has piss poor production compared to other Slayer records. Great songs, you just can't hear 'em couse its recorded for shit. john , were you high when you posted this ? reign in blood has perfect production , sounds like a garage band givin it all full tilt ...........and you can hear every instrument crystal clear . I remember when i first heard R>I>B . i was fourteen years old , sitting in a freinds garage , fixing our bikes . i was used to wasp - crue - metallica maiden preist etc , then i hear these fucking chainsaw riffs , and speedy vocals and rediculous high speed drumming to boot , and asked my buddy - what the fuck are we listening to ? He handed me the tape of reign in blood , i was hooked on high speed slayer forever since then .

Zoidberg: 1. hell awaits because it is the darkest and has my favorite slayer song ( necrophiliac) would be perfect but tom arraya only did his trademark shriek in one song
2. reign in blood is a VERY close second.vocals, guitars, drums, everything in that album is fast. all the songs are great on reign, but i have a major problem with it because some songs like piece by piece and necrophobic and reborn start and end so abruptly that they feel unfinished.
3. show no mercy cuz those are some freakin over zealous guitar solos.
4. haunting the chapel is just an EP but shit, it is the best EP i have ever heard! chemical warfare! :kickass:
5. decade of aggression. wow. (would have been higher but arraya gave a PATHETIC scream on angel of death)
6. seasons isnt as fast but it is still awesome

I totally revere all Slayer albums, including the much-maligned, misunderstood, under-rated ones like 'Undisputed Attitude', 'Diabolus in Musica' and 'God Hates Us All'. The only Slayer record that I'm very ambivalent about is the strangely melodic-sounding, rather dull 'Seasons in the Abyss'...This must come as a shock to most newbie/casual Slayer fans and even a lot of the older ones that seem to rate 'Seasons.....' rather highly.
However, my all-time fave slab of Slayer is 'Hell Awaits'. Tons of reasons as to why I feel that way. And 'RiB' and 'Divine Intervention' take silver and bronze in my book.

I've probably already said it earlier, oh well, but Hell Awaits has long been my fave Slayer album. The Haunting the Chapel EP was a brief but deliciously diabolical foretaste of the brilliance to come on Hell Awaits. As for Show No Mercy, I love its frenetic fury and it's got some mind-blowing tunes as well as less great ones. At any rate, I consider SNM to be the best full-length debut among those of the so-called Big Four at the time. I loved the deceptively slow-burn brilliance and ton-heavy song-craft of South of Heaven, despite most of the other fans I have known all along being all mixed up and giving it the iceberg treatment. For all the dissing of Slayer's output of the nineties, I honestly love 'em all, though I recognize and there can be no denying that Slayer had indeed already peaked and delivered their "best", in the past. Divine Intervention, Diabolus, Undisputed Attitude, GHUA could all be differentiated from each other in style, substance and execution, though all of them were superb albums in their own right.
The only Slayer album that I just never did enjoy at all is Seasons in the Abyss. Except 2-3 songs, I just found Seasons to be a far too melodic, mainstream-wooing, rather basic, uninspiring, boring album, to my ears. Christ Illusion also suffered a bit from being a 'comeback' effort that sounded too self-conscious and restricted and sort of insipid (especially some of the weakest, tamest guitar--playing I'd ever expect to hear on a Slayer record) instead of being the reckless, out-for-blood, take-no-prisoners affairs that Slayer is notorious for.
Anyway, what's with the new album and then (rumoured to be) bringing the curtains down on a glorious career??? Any news on that front that any of you guys have a clue about?
SHUT UP AND DIE
13th May 2008 - 08:40 AM
Meh, after like the last 4 Slayer records or so, there's been a big rumor-mill concerning their retirement. I can remember them saying they may hang it up after Undisputed....so I don't really give too much thought to that. Although the older they get......the more likely it is. You can see certain signs....especially mass-merchandising (which personally doesn't bother me, though to some "purists" like to cry about that shit for days) which usually intensifies towards the end of careers in music (to add an income buffer in retirement, lol) and all.
As for your assessment of Seasons....woah....I'm shocked, lol. Seasons and Christ Illusion are my favs after Divine Intervention. I personally think that Christ Illusion got much more bullshit than it deserved....mountains of people crying about it, when in all honesty it was the closest sounding record to their (arguably) best release ever.
