i've owned "the Bleeding" for quite a while and each time i listen to it, the more i am impressed in the musicianship, but i get more dissappointed with Chris lyric-writing. it's awfully repetitive and almost boring to listen to. although Fucked with a knife and An Experiement in Homicide weren't bad.
does anyone share these feelings for "The Bleeding"?

yeah yeah , the bleeding is a big dissapointment ....along with reign in blood
ride the lightning , etc.... im joking of course ...... lyrically and musically the
bleeding shreds ....... thats like a maiden fan asking if number of the beast
was a dissapointment . . . . . this does not make any logical sense ............
and im actually quite disturbed ..... i think i'll crawl back into my hole now
and btw ........ thanks agent for the sacrifice !!!!! long live thrash !!!!!!!!!!!

i'm not saying the Bleeding is crap, i'm merely saying that the lyrics for the songs (although i have said that Fucked With a Knife and An experiment in Homicide rules) isnt up to par to the previous song. take the song Pulverized, Barnes repeat essentially the same verse over and over. to me, it sounded like Barnes was running out of ideas. on the flipside, musicianship has improved ten-fold over Eaten Back to Life. it has gotten more technical better developed.
that's just my opinion

yeah i see wat u mean man, i dont think the lyrics r particualry bad but they r fuckin tame compared to TOTM and BAB, with possibly the exception of fucked with a knife. Staring through the eyes of the dead is a very clever song though and shows that barnes isnt just a fucked up mental necro freak (which isnt a bad thing

) i wonder y he chose to tone his lyrics down 4 this one, imagine how fucked up the lyrics woulda been if u took it further than TOTM

You thought it was over, it's not over
I'll be back, I brought my axe
In the shadows, alone in the dark
Young victims I stalk
You thought it was over, it's not over
I'll be back
From the grave
To mutilate
Axed in the back
Pick through the neck
Dead like the rest
Molested and left
Limbs split in half
I ruptured their flesh
Puncture wounds
To the head
Bone fragments clot to the hatchet
Knee-deep in the blood of the dead
Cranial separation
Sex with her severed head
Rotten walking dead
Hunting living victims
seems pretty bad arse to me \m/ fucked with a knife, staring through the eyes of the dead.. i think this album has pretty good lyrics, not as good as the previous albums but not disapointing in the least.

Chris Barnes wrote shitty lyrics because he couldn't write any better than his previous work. He couldn't improve on perfection. Same reason Slayer started playing like crap.
Eyes of the Dead is the scariest song though, not because of gore, but because of actual psychological fear. FYI, Make Them Suffer doesn't have any gore either.

The vocals are the only thing wrong with the ablum, they all sound the same. The lyrics are fucking great.
They think they know who I am. All they know is I love to kill. Face down, dead on the ground. Find me before another is found. I come alive in the darkness

Well I agree the "lyrics" are more interesting on Butchered or Tomb, but Chris' singing is better on the Bleeding.
The Bleeding is the best Barnes era album without a doubt
But The Bleeding is not the best Cannibal Corpse album by far, Vile is a big step forward and they only got better from then on.

UH...WAIT A MINUTE....I THOUGHT VILE WAS THEIR BEST SELLING? I COULD BE WRONG THOUGH....OR DID VILE JUST MOVE THE MOST UNITS IN IT'S FIRST WEEK?
BUT I AGREE.....THE BLEEDING IS AN EXCELLENT RECORD WITHOUT A DULL MOMENT ON IT WHATSOEVER. I CAN LISTEN TO THAT ALBUM 50 TIMES IN A ROW AND NOT GET BORED. SHIT...I HAVE THE CD FOR INSIDE AND THE CASETTE OUT IN MY VAN.....THAT MY WIFE HAS TAKEN OVER.....AND NEVER LISTENS TO...BUT WHATEVER.
ANYWAYS....THE BLEEDING IS THE BEST BARNES ERA RECORD. NOTICE HOW HE KEPT THE SAME STYLE OF VOCALS THROUGHOUT THE REST OF HIS CAREER, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TRUE CARNAGE?

Are you illiterate.....blind...deaf...or just retarded??
As Rob said.... this is where CC's lyrics reached a heightened level of sadistic seriousness. I mean just compare say the lyrics to "Ediable Autopsy" to say "Fucked With A Knife" or "An Experiment In Homicide". Lyrically, it's no comparison.

well, i dont know about a disapointment but it definately was not up to par with tomb and butchered. i think the reason that this is the least favorite cc album with barnes is because of his involvement with six feet under at the time. he was in six feet under while he did the bleeding and the seperate styles began to merge and it left many cc fans disapointed. if you listen to the bleeding and compare it with the first six feet under album, the vocal style is very similar which leads me to believe that he got somewhat tired of cannibal corpse and wanted to make cc sound like six feet under, and he somewhat acheived that goal in the bleeding. well thats just my opinion but i dont know. you decide

listen to created to kill and you would have heard exactly what CC would have sounded like if Barnes was still the singer.
