I had an idea about how we could deal with the new and non-posting members a little better. This morning when I first logged on to the site, I noticed that there were three new members since I had logged off the night before. Well I had never gotten a chance to post the welcome thread, and sometimes people don't come back for a few weeks if at all. This got me to thinking that what we really need is a way to automatically take some action when a new member registers. What I think would be ideal is that when a new member registers, the board will automatically do the following.

1. Send the user a welcome PM, with a link to the help files for the common new members questions ( how do I add an avatar, how do I upload a picture, etc... )
2. Send the user a welcome e-mail with a link to the board, a link to the I forgot my password feature, and some welcome and information about the board
3. Post a welcome topic for the new user in the "Welcome New Members" forum.
4. Send the Admin a notification that someone completed a registration

Right now, the board will only do the last item automatically, so I guess over the next few days I'll be taking a look at the software that Sends the Admin notification and see what I need to do to modify it to accomplish the other items as well.

As ususal, send me your suggestions and feedback.

Also, please remember that not everyone who register's here will want to post in the forum. This is completely all right. Posting is encouraged but its not mandantory by any means. So don't feel upset if people don't post right away or at all. Some will, some won't, and some will just read for a while till they feel comfortable posting. Just as an example, I browsed KISS's forum for a while this weekend and saw that they have over 16,000 registered members, but only a few hundred post regularly. Just remember that its not realistic to expect everyone to post.

A little about me: I´m 18 years old and come from Sweden. I have two interests and they are Metal and Tae Kwon Do. I´m vocalist in the Black/Death Metalband Aeternitas Nox (www.aeternitasnox.tk. Some videos under Downloads.) and Death/Gore/Grindband Vaginal Repulsion.
