Full Version: My Paul Bostaph
The Tomb > Vile Pleasures > Vomit The Soul > Fistful of Metal
Rotting Decrepit Corpse
I heard Paul is joining Testament, yet again for their Forthcoming album . Should be cool . I think he's technically one of the best drummers not just in metal , but music in general .

I remember seeing forbidden on the " twist into form " tour , and meeting the back then shy and quiet Paul bostaph. Before they tore up and destroyed live @ the concert hall in 1990 . And when he joined slayer , although i was a lombardo worshiper , he sure did a kick ass job on the kicks for slayer & won over most fans that doubted anyone could fill in lombardo's massive shoes .

Anyways , hail bostaph for his works in forbidden , testament , exodus & slayer .

let's not forget that Bostaph completely DESTROYS dave lombardo as a drummer.
Necrosadistic
I've always thought Dave was the better drummer personally....

not disputing the fact that Paul is not an AWESOME drummer though of course, his work has been flawless.

I remember when I saw Exodus last year, and after the show, Paul walks by and I called out, "Paul! You Rule!" And he heard me! laugh.gif

I dunno , that's kind of not true , I mean old slayer had that chaotic style , that Lombardo matched better , The train wreck about to happen ? But never did ? - I love that era of slayer . So fast it could fall apart .

but amazingly enough , I could only picture bostaph on Diabolic , and devine , undisputed etc . He's definitely fitting for the newer slayer stuff . But i Do prefer the old .

Technically , Bostaph is a better drummer yes , for feel and vibe - lombardo hands down devil.gif

The only difference is the use of triggers, sir. smile.gif Paul used them, and so everything he played sounded more clinical, Dave was pretty much against using them, so his was that more organic sound. I personally love both drummers......

they are two totally different drummers , triggers or no triggers ........... That has nothing to do with it . smile.gif

I prefer the more "organic" sound as opposed to triggers. Triggers annoy the living fuck out of me. GRRRRR! taz.gif

the vish prefers triggers... i also just dont care for dave lombardo's "i use methamphetamine" drumming style. bostaph uses such a primal style with the afore mentioned "feel". i'll take feel over speed any day... the fact that bostaph is also the more technical of the two seals the deal for sure.

I prefer Dave's straightforward "punk" style, though.

i love what he did with slayer and i have heard the exodus album and the new testament album and he brings so much power to the music, he is one of the best drummers today

Paul Bostaph just mimics the drummers that were in the band before he joined. Nothing exciting to me at all. Dave is better, especially after what he did in Grip Inc, Paul can't even touch that shit.
