what string gauge would be the best for my suite of death metal..Necrophagist, Cannibal Corpse, Rose Funeral, Gojira, Cryptopsy, Blood Red Throne, The Red Chord, you get the idea. I'm just wondering how heavy i should go like heavier than 56's? for Drop B, B standard, A standard to A-flat tunings.

I've never really gone down to those tunings for serious playing..but now i really need/ want to and i wasn't sure what was best. thanks

d'addario 13-56 gauge strings

I prefer GHS Boomers, mainly because those fuckers can take a good beating!

What's MY gauge? It tends to vary, but this is what I've been using since '04:

I have been using D"addario for like 20 years . and will never change . Their liquid smooth , great tone , great harmonic 's , and fairly last a good while .

For low tunings , yes , you need heavier gauge strings . I play in Eb or e mostly , and I have a trem bar , so i don't fuck with the tunings that much " too much bridge -resetting .

I use EXL120 , .009 -.042 . remember bending is important , You need a flexible string to do fabulous bends .


when i was playing alot of zombie ritual , lordgore stuff . I used heavier strings of course , tuned in low B .
